When you browse certain securities on an online-news, I noticed a small camera attached to a hand history of a person holding the pump Bowser as they put gasoline in their car. The associated text says "file photo." Now I suppose that covers the legal basis so that no one is supposed to think that the picture was made especially for the story? Or does that mean it's just pictures they have on file and is not covered by copyright? or other thing? thank you in advance.
As far as I can understand a file photo is a picture that is always available to be extracted and used if an article or story.
