how can I make a good kart body w / o purchase plans or a kit?

Im trying to build a kart but I can not understand what be used for the body, a car might work, but it had to be small. Im on a tight budget then the suggestions should be relatively good market.

what I did was to build a framework for the body and then use a fiberglass shell over it good but make sure you layer so that it is a 1 / 4 inch thick or you'll have a lot of cracking due to bumps on the tracks or track
